The UK Government recently announced the launch of the first stage of a £200 million scheme to help bring the UK’s fastest and most reliable broadband to businesses across the country, starting with four local areas.
As part of our commitment to changing the country’s internet, we have become registered suppliers within West Yorkshire, one of our Telcom-activated areas, to connect local businesses to speeds from 100Mbps up to 1Gbps (1,000 Mbps).
The scheme represents a great opportunity to upgrade Yorkshire businesses to be able to keep up with their current internet needs, but also build a network infrastructure that is ready for the upcoming future.
How the Gigabit Broadband scheme works
The broadband voucher will cover the cost to double your business internet to a speed faster than 100Mbps, and potentially capable of supporting Gigabit speed (1,000Mbps) in the future without further network upgrades.
This essentially gives a superfast internet connection upgrade for free, making your business broadband future proof up to 1Gbps.
Small and medium-size enterprises based in West Yorkshire qualify for the voucher scheme, as long as they have no more than 249 employees, and a balance sheet of less than €43 million or a turnover of less than €50 million.
There are a limited number of vouchers to distribute - less than 600 total in West Yorkshire - so we recommend that businesses consider claiming one as soon as possible before they are all gone.

We want to see more commercial investment in the gold standard connectivity that full fibre provides, and these innovative pilots will help create the right environment for this to happen. To keep Britain as the digital world leader that it is, we need to have the right infrastructure in place to allow us to keep up with the rapid advances in technology now and in the future.
