The Collective is a 550-bed building in Central London, and the largest co-living space in the world. Co-living tackles two problems of modern city living: finding affordable and modern central accommodation, and being part of a likeminded community.
Located in Old Oak, The Collective offers boutique interior design that connect private rooms with shared spaces: members have access to shared kitchen, entertainment spaces, luxury facilities, and bookable dining rooms for private and social events. This also creates a sense of community, where likeminded young professionals connect, collaborate and socialise.
Their HQ in Bedford Square, is also home to The Den, a flexible co-working space designed for founders, early-stage startups, creatives and freelancers.
Both locations are home to several businesses that heavily rely on the internet, and the Collective offers a modern, cutting edge environment for them to thrive. Having a solid internet connection that is both ultrafast and reliable, is critical to the community. This is why it's important to have a backup connection to guarantee uptime and quality of service.
Joseph, the Office Manager of The Den, explains "We decided to switch from our IT service providers to Telcom due to the fact they weren't delivering the service we required. After obtaining three separate diagnoses of our set me up went with Telcom who had also come recommended."
Having a secondary connection allows The Collective to place confidence in the robustness of their internet: if the infrastructure fails at any point, it would automatically switch over to the backup connection in seconds.
This can be done in two ways: by having two providers, or by creating several resilience points along the line to make sure every possible problem is covered by a secondary solution. This includes running on a separate power supply and using a different electricity provider, linking to different cabinets that link to a separate exchanges. No duplicates are allowed, to make sure the line won't be interrupted when the primary connection fails.

Our team has connected Bedford Square and is currently working with the Old Oak co-living team to bring a backup connection for their community of hundreds of entrepreneurs and creatives.
When talking about the installation team, Joseph said: "Our experience has been very positive and the switch-overs have gone very smoothly. Their support has been direct and professional."
